Falcons who are feeling under the weather are taken by their owners to the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. They wait patiently on the green perches in the waiting room before being seen by the very capable and devoted specialist staff. Opened in 1999 the hospital welcomes 11,200 falcons per year. Ailments are varied and might even involve a broken feather quickich is quickly repaired with a spare feather and superglue!

Tours of the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital take two hours. During this time the history of Falconry in the Middle East is explained, the different types of Falcons are highlighted and there is an opportunity to witness a minor procedure where the falcon is placed under aneasthetic. At the close of the tour, visitors are taken to the aviary where the falcons spend their moulting season. Unable to tolerate the extreme heat it is essential for the falcons to be made comfortable by the air conditioning.
Les tours de l'hôpital de Faucon, Abou Dabi, prennent deux heures. Pendant ce temps l'histoire de la fauconnerie au Moyen-Orient est expliqué, les différents types de Faucons sont mis en évidence et on peut voir une procédure mineure où le faucon est placé sous anesthésique. A l'issue de la visite, les visiteurs sont pris à l'air conditionné volière où les faucons passent leur période de mue. Ne pas aimant la chaleur extrême, il est essentiel pour eux d'être frais à l'aise en l'air conditionné.
Falcons and their owners become very close with many Arabs eating and sleeping with their Falcon. The Falcon stays close to the owner knowing that there will always be food to hand.
