Sitting outside Dubai Mall, watching the fountains with an ice cream in my hand, is one of my favourite pastimes in the winter in Dubai!  As darkness falls, choreographed fountains dance and swirl at Burj Khalifa Lake as they interpret the rhythm of the music which fills the air.  Towering above us is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, which at night twinkles like a sparkler.  In the crowd, eagerly awaiting the spectacle, are people from all over the world: some on holiday in Dubai, some are residents and the atmosphere as everyone mingles together is always convivial.  Cameras flash and videos roll as the fountains commence their show.   We gasp as the water shoots up high - sometimes as high as 150 metres with 22,000 gallons of airborne water.  As I finish my ice cream so too the spectacle ends.  But I have been known to sit tight, take in the atmosphere and wait for the next fountain show 30 minutes later!

Une de mes activités préférés pendant l’hiver à Dubaï est d'être assise en dehors du Dubaï Mall en regardant les fontaines, avec une glace dans ma main.  A la tombé de la nuit, les fontaines dansent et tourbillent dans le Lac du Burj Khalifa pendant qu’ils interprètent le rythme de la musique qui remplit l’air.  Imposant au dessus, est le Burj Khalifa, la plus grande tour du monde, qui scintille la nuit comme un cierge magique.  Dans la foule, attendant le spectacle avec impatience, ce sont des gens de chaque coin du monde: certains sont en vacances, d’autres sont des résidents des Emirats Arabes Unis et l’atmosphère, est toujours convivial.  Des appareils photos flash au moment où les fontaines commencent leur spectacle.  On a le souffle coupé au moment où l’eau jaillit vers le haut - parfois aussi haut que 150 mètres avec 22,000 gallons de l’eau décollé.  En finissant ma glace le spectacle termine.  Mais il y a des occasions quand je ne bouge pas, j’absorbe l’atmosphère et j’attends le prochain spectacle 30 minutes plus tard!
