A traditional wind tower, a Barjee.
The origins of the Barjee go back as far as 3100BC. They are a common sight in Dubai and are used to keep the interior of houses cooler than the outside temperature by creating natural ventilation. Sitting above the building's roof the Barjee is open to all four sides. The hot air rises out of the top of the tower whilst the cooler wind is captured, redirecting it down into the building through narrow shafts.

Les origines du Barjee remonte à 3100 avant Jésus-Christ. Ils sont un spectacle familier à Dubaï et ils sont utilisé à tenir les intérieur des maisons au frais en utilisant le vent. Situé sur le toit des maisons, le Barjee est ouvert des quatre côtes. L’air chaud sort du haut de la tour pendant que du vent frais passe par le bas se dirigeant dans la maison en passant des conduits étroits.
